Dr. Mark Tufte
Dr. Tufte has been voted Best Eye Doctor in the Red River Valley in the very first InForum contest 2013, runner-up in 2014 and again the Best Eye Doctor in 2015.
He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree with summa cum laude honors from Ohio State University in 1982. Dr. Tufte completed extensive research on tear film, corneal eye health and contact lens performance in the Master’s program.
Over 650,000 eyes have trusted Dr. Tufte practicing primary and secondary eyecare in North Dakota for 34 years. He has worked in the medical eye field his entire career and in 1984 started the Optometry and Optical Department at Fargo Clinic – MeritCare – Sanford, and in 2008 opened EYES on 42nd, EYES on 43rd and EYES on Broadway.
He specializes in the management of all eye problems including Glaucoma, Cataracts, Diabetes, Macular Degeneration, Infections, Allergies, Dry eyes and all eye disorders associated with systemic health diseases. He also is a consultant for LASIK laser eye surgeries.
Dr. Tufte has been a consultant for Acuvue – Vistakon, Alcon – Ciba, Bausch & Lomb and CooperVision testing new contact lens designs and materials, specializing in correcting every eye prescription with the latest contact lens technology.
He has been a speaker for Alcon and Allergan Ocular Pharmaceutical companies, educating his colleagues and others in the optical field about the most successful treatments for eye disorders and dry eye patients.
Dr. Tufte has been an Olympic vision consultant, testing and advising visual performance for the athletes.
He and his wife Deb have completed over ten Lion’s Mexico Eye Missions to provide both Eyecare and Glasses to thousands of underprivileged.
Dr. Tufte is therapeutically licensed to practice Optometry in North Dakota and Arizona while continuously updating his skills and equipment technology at the International Vision Expo.
He is a supportive member of the North Dakota Optometric Association as well as the American Optometric Association.
