Meet the Doctors

Dr. Mark Tufte

Dr. Mark Tufte, a renowned eye doctor, was voted Best Eye Doctor of the Red River Valley in the first Fargo InForum contest in 2013. Born in Northwood, ND, he completed his undergraduate in chemical engineering at UND and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University in 1982. He has practiced primary, secondary, and tertiary eyecare in North Dakota since 1982, working directly with ophthalmology in medical eye care.

Dr. Tufte specializes in managing eye problems such as Glaucoma, Cataracts, Diabetes, Macular Degeneration, Infections, Allergies, Dry Eyes, and all eye disorders associated with systemic health diseases. He also manages all surgeries, including cataract surgery, upper blepharoplasty, droopy lids, and LASIK surgeries.

Dr. Tufte created the Fargo Contact Lens Center and has been a consultant for Acuvue – Vistakon, Alcon – Ciba, Bausch & Lomb, and CooperVision. He has been a speaker for Alcon and Allergan Eye Pharmaceutical companies, educating colleagues and others in the optical field about the most successful treatments for eye disorders.

Dr. Tufte has served as an Olympic vision consultant, testing and advising visual performance in the Olympic Village for all world athletes. He and his wife Deb have completed over 10 Lion's eye mission trips to Mexico, providing eyecare and glasses to thousands of underprivileged patients.

Dr. Tufte is therapeutically licensed to practice Optometry in North Dakota and Arizona, continuously updating his skills and equipment technology to offer the best care possible. Eyes on 45th is a proud supporter of the North Dakota Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Josh Stommes

Meet Dr. Josh, a passionate and dedicated optometrist hailing from Spokane, WA. Armed with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Gonzaga University and an O.D. from Indiana University School of Optometry, he embarked on a journey to make a positive impact on people's lives through exceptional eye care.

Dr. Cody Ward

Dr. Ward, born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, earned degrees in biochemistry and biology from South Dakota State University. He moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and completed an Ocular Disease and Refractive Surgery residency. He now works at Eyes on 45th, providing excellent eye care to the Fargo/Moorhead community.
